Infliximab, a chimeric anti-TNF-α monoclonal antibody, is used to treat psoriasis, Crohn's disease, ankylosing spondylitis, psoriatic arthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, and ulcerative colitis. Infliximab interferes TNF-α from binding to its receptor in the cell. Mainly produced by activated macrophages (M1), Tumor necrosis factor (TNF, cachexin, cachectin, tumor necrosis factor alpha, TNFα) plays important roles in the regulation of autoimmune reaction.
